York City Knights winger Lee Maples will go straight back in to the team for Sunday's Northern Rail Cup game against Batley Bulldogs. Maples has missed the last two matches with a cut leg, but coach Paul March says he is ready to return.
The Batley game is too soon for loose forward Rob Kelly, who gashed his knee three weeks ago.
Kelly is expected to be fit in time for the opening game in National League Two against Gateshead on Good Friday.
Prop, Danny Ekis picked up a mouth injury in the Challenge Cup tie against Halifax, and March is likely to rest him on Sunday.
Meanwhile, captain Scott Rhodes, will see a specialist next week about a neck injury.
March told BBC Radio York: "He'll see a specialist on Tuesday and we'll see how we go from there.
"We can't put a timescale on it just yet but obviously if we lose him, there are players that have already shown they can step in and fill his boots."
