Coach, Paul March feels the Knights first win is not far away |
York City Knights coach Paul March was much happier with his side despite their 40-22 defeat at Batley Bulldogs. Player-coach March wanted an improvement on their last performance at Gateshead, which they lost 26-18 after leading 10-0 at half-time.
And he told BBC Radio York: "We had a point to prove. The 40 minutes at Gateshead let us down.
"Batley are a big side. It was tough but we stuck in there and I'm pleased with the boys."
The Knights are still looking for their first win in 2008 but March says the players are working hard despite the results not going their way.
He added: "We give it 110% and I'm disappointed for the lads because I think we could have got a lot more out of the game than we did."
York next play Halifax in the third round of the Challenge Cup, and March says that will be another difficult game.
"Looking at Halifax I think they've got a lot of experienced players - ex-Super League players - and we have to break them down. If we can do that early on and keep in there I think we'll have a good chance."
