Barnett scored 36 tries in 62 Super League games for Hull and Warrington

Barnett provided a sample in April 2007 which was found to contain an elevated testosterone/epitestosterone ratio.

The 26-year-old appeared before a Rugby Football League hearing on 15 February and his ban started on that date.

Barnett was playing for Warrington at the time of the offence but was unattached at the time of the hearing.

The two-year ban is in line with World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) guidelines.

The sample which Barnett provided was supplied while he was still playing for Warrington in a match against Salford.

Barnett subsequently left the Wolves for the City Reds, but was released by Salford at the end of last season.

The former Great Britain Students winger enjoyed a fine scoring record in Super League - with 36 tries in 62 games.

Barnett also had spells with Gateshead Thunder and Widnes in 2005.
