Workington Town began their Northern Rail Cup campaign with Sunday's 30-8 defeat to Halifax at Derwent Park. Dave Rotheram's side found last season's semi-finalists too tough to deal with on a blustery day in Cumbria.
Workington did respond with a try of their own in the second half but the visitors notched six tries and five conversions to overpower Town.
Next up in the Northern Rail Cup for Town are last season's finalists Whitehaven next Sunday.
