March joined York from Wakefield Wildcats in September |
York City Knights player-coach Paul March will miss the start of the season after breaking his thumb. The 28-year-old half-back is now expected to miss the whole of the Northern Rail Cup campaign.
March broke his thumb in the friendly against Leeds Rhinos on Sunday and he has since had it operated on.
He told BBC Radio York: "Obviously it's a big blow. Not just for me but for the team. Hopefully I'll be back as quick as I can."
March's injury leaves the Knights light at half-back and the Knights are looking to bring in cover.
Danny Ratcliffe and Scott Rhodes are likely to start at scrum-half and stand-off this weekend for the opening game of the campaign against Gateshead Thunder.
