Fa'asavalu has represented Samoa at rugby union |
Samoa-born forward Maurie Fa'asavalu has declared himself available for selection to play for Great Britain. The St Helens prop represented Samoa in the rugby union World Cup in Australia in 2003 but qualifies for Britain as he has been a resident for four years.
He wants to play in the autumn Test series against New Zealand, starting at the end of October, and for England in next year's World Cup in Australia.
"It would be an honour to pull on a Lions jersey," said Fa'asavalu.
"If I could get that opportunity as soon as this autumn's Test Series against New Zealand, then I would be delighted," he added.

"St Helens and England is the birthplace of my rugby league career and, having only ever played rugby league in this country, both my family and I now feel extremely settled here.
"We now class St Helens and this country as our home and it would be a great privilege to show my thanks towards those who have made me and my family feel so welcome by playing for Great Britain and, who knows, one day England."
Great Britain coach Tony Smith, an Australian, said: "I'm aware of Maurie's change in status and he will be considered along with all the other players who are eligible to play for Great Britain."
