Leeds: (18) 46
Tries: McGuire (2), Sinfield, Burrow (2), Toopi, Webb, Smith
Goals: Sinfield (7)
Wakefield: (0) 4
Tries: Jeffries
Kevin Sinfield became only the second player in Super League history to score in every round of the regular season as Leeds put Wakefield to the sword. He scored one of their eight tries and kicked seven goals as the Rhinos booked a play-off clash with St Helens.
Tries by Danny McGuire (2), Sinfield, Rob Burrow (2), Brent Webb and Clinton Toopi gave Leeds a 38-0 lead.
Ben Jeffries marked his Wakefield exit with a try before being sin-binned and Lee Smith added Leeds' eighth try.
Leeds coach Tony Smith: "It was a good, strong, comprehensive performance from us to finish the
regular season.
"We put our attack and defence together well. It has been coming for some time
and I am delighted for the players. Everyone did their job.
"Second place is a fair reflection of our season as a whole. We would have liked to finish first, of course, but the table is a fair indication of a team's form.
"St Helens were beaten tonight but they deserve their position at the top."
Wakefield coach John Kear: "It was a very disappointing 80 minutes. We have some very young guys and some who have given their all in a season in which they have been under pressure from round one.
"They have achieved a great deal but it was a disappointing last throw of the dice and this is a learning curve for all of us.
"I want to thank the three players who played their last games for us tonight - David March, Peter Fox and Ben Jeffries - who have played their part in a roller-coaster season.
"We will have some new faces next season and hopefully we will be competitive."
