Sinfield's late drop goal came at a crucial time for the Rhinos

Leeds finished with a late flourish to overcome Huddersfield and stay joint top of the Super League.

With five minutes to go the sides were locked at 12-12 after two Danny McGuire tries were cancelled out by efforts from Paul Jackson and Chris Nero.

But Kevin Sinfield edged the Rhinos ahead again with a drop goal to put the pressure on the Giants.

They tried to respond but Leeds managed two late tries from Jordan Tansey and Scott Donald to seal the victory.

"I thought we finished the game like we started it and the game is over 80 minutes.

"It was a hard-fought game and there was some brilliant defence from both teams, but I don't think we nicked it at all.

"We played very smartly and were very committed and I'm very proud of all my players."

"It's the best we've played for about five weeks. We were poor last week and I'm really pleased with the boys' response.

"Having last weekend off certainly helped Leeds in the last five minutes but there's not much between us and now we're challenging the top four teams and sneaking the odd win.

"There's speculation about a couple of my players and that's positive because it reflects on what they're doing out on the field."
