Bradford moved level on points with Leeds at the top of Super League with a six-try win against Warrington.

Paul Deacon scored the first try for Bradford before Brent Grose hit back for the visitors.

The Bulls went 18-6 up as Lesley Vainikolo and Michael Platt went over but Warrington drew level through tries from Vinnie Anderson and Lee Briers.

Bradford pulled clear after the break through Platt, Jamie Langley and James Evans, before Briers' late consolation.

Platt, who is in his first season at Odsal, is the league's leading try-scorer and his brace took his tally for the season to 12 in as many matches.

Bradford played the entire second half without captain Deacon, who added three goals to his early try, but pulled away from their visitors with three tries in the last quarter as Warrington paid for their indiscipline.

The Wolves were on the wrong end of a 17-7 penalty count, many of them down to Great Britain forward Adrian Morley, who had an eventful first full game for his club.

Morley played just 61 minutes in the first 11 weeks of the season after twice breaking his cheekbone and seemed desperate to make up for lost time.

He was responsible for conceding the first three penalties of the match and was twice lectured by referee Ashley Klein, who put him on report for a challenge on his former Leeds team-mate Iestyn Harris.

  • Bradford coach Steve McNamara:
  • "The game was in the balance but I think our fitness and conditioning shone through.

"We weren't clinical. We were an inch away on occasions from really pushing on but some poor execution let us down at crucial times.

"We didn't do as much with possession we had as we should have done."

  • Warrington coach Paul Cullen:
  • "For 38 minutes of the first half, Bradford did absolutely nothing wrong.

"They were never not square, never offside, never interfered and a 6-0 penalty count for 38 minutes was credit to the Bradford discipline.

"To go in at 18-18 with those stats was remarkable but six or seven penalties took us to the wrong end of the field."
