Hull: (8) 20
Tries: Horne, Hall
Goals: Tickle (5), Hall
Harlequins: (8) 8
Tries: Smith
Goals: Sykes (2)
Hull recovered from going behind early on to ease to a comprehensive win over Harlequins at the KC Stadium. Tyrone Smith opened the scoring from a scrum following Thomas Lee's error in front of his own posts.
Two Paul Sykes goals added to their advantage but Danny Tickle's reliable kicking kept Hull in touch.
Matt Sing and Craig Hall stretched the Quins' defence to allow Richard Horne to go over, then Hall intercepted to add a try of his own and seal the win.
Hull coach Peter Sharp: "We had five kids under the age of 20 and all from Hull and three under the age of 18, so it was a pretty fair effort.
"The competition is close and you're not going to get the points if you're not on your game, but tonight we were on our game. Defensively, we got our mojo back and found our way a bit.
"We were under the pump early on, I thought we toughed it out."
Harlequins coach Brian McDermott:
"You could say that was a key factor as we didn't get enough good field position. I'm disappointed not to come away with the win.
"We've shown up for many weeks now and we've come away with some wins that
people have been surprised with. We very rarely don't turn up but with the ball
we were a bit ropy tonight.
"We dropped balls at crucial times. I thought we made them come up with some desperate tackles which shows we weren't too far off in attack and I thought out desire was intact tonight."
