Chris O'Callaghan has left as Celtic Crusaders chief executive |
Fledgling rugby league club Celtic Crusaders are searching for a new chief executive following the surprise resignation of Chris O'Callaghan. The former Aberavon coach has left the National League Two club "by mutual consent" to return to the 15-a-side code as forwards coach with Spain.
O'Callaghan was at the heart of the development of the Crusaders.
"It's the right time. I've been at it 13 months non-stop, 15 hours a day, seven days a week," O'Callaghan said.
"So it's been hard graft to set it up but it is set up now.
"They are within a few points of the top of the table and doing quite well. Other things have opened up for me."

The Bridgend-based Crusaders are currently sixth in the NL2 table after winning five of their first nine matches.
Crusaders owner Leighton Samuel insists the future of the club is secure.
The businessman backed that up by announced the signing of Welsh international Aled James from Sheffield Eagles, hinting that more arrivals are imminent.
"This is not a negative situation for the Crusaders," Samuel said.
"There will be more money available to bring in more players to strengthen the squad. This signifies the intention that we want to gain promotion this season.
"The coaching staff and players have been fully informed of what is happening with the club.
"Chris felt it was time to move on to pastures new and we'd like to thank him for all the hard work he's put in and we wish him well."
Samuel was previously the benefactor behind Bridgend RFC and the now defunct Celtic Warriors regional side.
But he has now left behind the union game to concentrate on promoting the 13-man code in Wales.
