Six players from Australian NRL leaders Canterbury Bulldogs who were accused of assaulting a woman in a group sex scandal will not face charges. The allegations led to the sacking of manager Garry Hughes, while chief executive Steve Mortimer resigned.
Police, who launched a two-month investigation, said they were advised not to press charges by prosecutors.
"I think it should be seen as a true vindication," said new Bulldogs chief executive Malcolm Noad.
"The police have mounted an incredibly extensive investigation."
The players, who gave police DNA samples, all strenuously denied the claim.
The scandal rocked professional sport in Australia, with more than a dozen similar claims emerging against other rugby league and Australian Football League players.
