Former world skeleton champion Kristan Bromley leads the World Cup standings after podium finishes in the first two races of the season.

The 38-year-old Briton came third in Calgary after a second-place finish in Whistler and is joint leader with Russia's Alexander Tretiakov.

Bromley's partner Shelley Rudman finished second in Calgary and is fourth in the women's standings.

The third race of the season will be at Park City in Utah on 9 December.

Britain has three men inside the top 21 of the World Cup standings, and two women inside the top 10, after Donna Creighton's sixth place in Calgary.

Britain's 2010 Winter Olympic gold medallist, Amy Williams, will not resume racing until after the new year.

Meanwhile in luge, Brit AJ Rosen will not compete on the World Cup season because of a lack of funding.

Rosen, who finished 16th at the 2010 Winter Olympics, had received money from the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme and the International Olympic Committee Solidarity Fund but this has now ended. He was not funded by UK Sport.

Richard Simmons, performance director of the Great Britain Luge Association, said: "There is absolutely no money there. It's pathetic really. He is, potentially, very much a world-class athlete."

UK Sport will announce on Thursday its winter sport funding programme for the four-year cycle to Sochi 2014.

For the cycle leading up to Vancouver 2010, UK Sport invested £5.8m.
