Britain's Shelley Rudman collected her first World Cup skeleton bob medal of the season with silver at Lake Placid.

The 28-year-old was fourth at the halfway mark but moved up to finish 0.23 seconds behind gold medallist Mellisa Holingsworth of Canada.

Rudman's team-mate Amy Williams just missed out on a medal, finishing 0.23 seconds behind Marion Trott in fourth.

Donna Creighton celebrated her first top-10 finish in a World Cup event with ninth place.

"It's been a good result for the whole team," said British Skeleton performance director Andi Schmid.

Britain's Kristan Bromley could only finish ninth in the men's event.

Bromley was seventh after the first of two runs, but dropped down the field on the second run.

Team-mate Andy Wood was 15th after the first run and ended the day in 18th place.
