GB slider Williams cool on Rudman

I would love to be on podium - Williams

Team Bath's Amy Williams has told BBC Points West GB team-mate Shelley Rudman is just another competitor to her.

"I see all competitors the same. It's still an athlete you want to beat and I put her in that category," she said.

"We don't really help each other in training. I'm just an individual on my team working with my coaches."

The bob skeleton World Championships are taking place in Lake Placid and Williams is looking to improve on her fifth place in the recent World Cup.

The Cambridge-born 26-year-old continued: "I'd love to be up there on the podium.

"I'm still trying to work out things from my training. I seem to be training champion but not quite doing it in races.

"Physically I can do it. Something shifts in your head when it comes to race day, the fact that the result matters. I'm trying to work it out that I'm not tense when it comes to race day."
