Paerson missed out on a medal at the worlds in Val d'Isere |
Sweden's Anja Paerson bounced back from a poor World Championships to win the women's super-combined World Cup title in Tarvisio, Italy, on Friday. Paerson was fifth in the season finale, but it was enough for her to top the world standings after three races. The race was won by Germany's slalom world champion Maria Riesch. Riesch produced the perfect slalom run to beat American Lindsey Vonn by 0.49 seconds, clocking a combined best time of two minutes 18.57 seconds. Austrian Kathrin Zettel, the super-combined world champion, was third, 2.03 seconds off the pace after finishing the downhill run in 23rd position. The women's World Cup continues on Saturday with a downhill, also in the Italian resort of Tarvisio.
