Snowboard-cross racer Zoe Gillings recorded her first World Cup podium of the season with third place in Bad Gastein, Austria.

She finished behind Lindsay Jacobellis, of the United States, and Canada's Dominique Maltais.

It was Gillings' third top-six finish of the season and she lies sixth in the World Cup standings.

The 23-year-old, from the Isle of Man, now heads off to Korea for the World Snowboarding Championships.

The 2010 Winter Olympics medal prospect said: "I'm delighted with the result, it's brilliant.

"I had a lot of confidence going into the race as I've had a great start to the season."

Gillings is one of seven British snowboarders competing in Gangwon, Korea, with the 10-day Championships starting on Thursday.

She is a strong medal hope in the snowboard-cross and Lesley McKenna, who has a top-five World Cup finish this season, could reach the podium in the half-pipe.

Kate Foster, Ben Kilner and Dom Harington will also compete in half-pipe while Sam Cullum will double up in the big air.

Snowboard-cross racer Nick Dudar, 31, makes the step-up from the development team to compete in the Championships, which will see more than 1,200 participants from 50 countries compete in the biennial event.

Gillings added: "I'm pretty confident about the World Championship as it is on the same course I came fourth on last season."
