Schild has been in superb form so far this season |
Austria's Marlies Schild claimed her fourth slalom victory in five races with success in Zagreb. Schild led Swedish rival and Olympic champion Anja Paerson by 1.09 seconds after the first run down Mount Sljeme.
But Paerson failed to finish the second leg, allowing Schild to keep up her good form and win by 1.66 seconds.
Croatia's Ana Jelusic was second for the first podium finish of her World Cup career with Sarka Zahrobska of the Czech Republic third.
The victory extends Schild's lead at the top of the women's overall standings.
Paerson, who returned to action in Zagreb after missing the last slalom race with a knee problem, lost her balance with three or four gates remaining and slid face-down on the snow.
Sweden's Therese Borssen, who ended Schild's winning run last week in a slalom in Semmering, Austria, was fifth after the first leg but also exited on the second leg when she straddled a gate.
