Washington's Peter Bondra
Bondra scored for the Caps

The Washington Capitals extended their unbeaten run with a 4-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

Mike Grier and Kip Miller gave the Caps a first-period lead before Steve Konowalchuk and Peter Bondra sealed the game.

Carolina's only score came from veteran Ron Francis.

Olaf Kolzig (15-11-3) stopped 24 of 25 shots in the Caps cage.

Washington chalked up their 11th consecutive game with at least a point.

They have not been beaten in regulation since 14 December, going 6-0-3-2 since then.

Friday's NHL results:

Buffalo 4-2 Boston
Carolina 1-4 Washington
Florida 1-2 New Jersey
Minnesota 2-1 Phoenix
Vancouver 2-3 Columbus
