Stoke-on-Trent's Jacqueline Slack has won the Strathclyde Park Triathlon, the first event of the 2010 British Triathlon Super Series.

Slack saw off strong competition from Alexandra Tondeur and Charlotte McShane, who finished second and third respectively, to take the victory.

"I'm amazed to be honest. I didn't expect to come out and win," she said.

"I was aiming for top five, possibly the top three, and either would have been great so early in the season.

She added: "The swim was absolutely beautiful, the conditions were amazing, but the bike was tough and the run was really hard because of the heat and the hills."

The series is made up of five triathlons, with the Blenheim Triathlon up next on 6 June.
