 Stannard celebrates his win in Windsor on Sunday |
Britain's Richard Stannard produced his trademark fine swim to seal his first ever victory in the Windsor Triathlon. Stannard, world aquathon champion, led exiting the swim in the Thames and hung on in the run to hold off the challenge of the fast-finishing Ritchie Nicholls.
Stannard said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to finally have taken first place at Windsor - it's a real confidence boost for the Beijing Olympics."
Sam Herridge won the women's elite race in a breakthrough performance.
