Stannard is now targeting success in the World Triathlon Championships
Great Britain's Richard Stannard has won the ITU World Aquathlon title in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Stannard completed the one kilometre swim and five kilometre run in 29 minutes and 16 seconds.

He finished 14 seconds ahead of New Zealand's Brent Forster, with Brazil's Paulo Miyashiro in third a further nine seconds back.

In women's event, Britain's Kerry Lang finished just outside the medals in fourth.

The race was won by Brazil's Carla Moreno, with Lang, from Scotland, coming home just four seconds behind third-placed Anna Cleaver of New Zealand.

Stannard hopes to follow up his aquathlon success when he competes in the Triathlon World Championships, which also take place in Queenstown this weekend.
