Daryl Selby torn by Commonwealth Games anticipation

Daryl Selby
Selby is currently ranked ninth in the world

Essex squash player Daryl Selby says he is attempting to focus on forthcoming tournaments, and keep his mind off the prospect of the Commonwealth Games.

The 27-year-old has been included in the England team for Delhi in October but must tackle the British Grand Prix in Manchester first.

He told BBC Essex: "That will take priority for the time being because it's World Tour ranking points.

"But I'm sure the Commonwealths will be in the back of everybody's minds."

In India, world number nine Selby will compete in the singles, and pair up with the man one place ahead of him in the world rankings, Peter Barker, for the doubles.

Speaking from England's Commonwealth training camp in Manchester he said: "The form seems fine - I'm hitting the ball well.

"It's just about getting the work in again and trying to improve for next season.

"It should be a great games. India has put a lot of effort and money into hosting the event."
