Patrick Wallace will make his first televised appearance for six years |
Dungannon player Patrick Wallace clinched a place in the TV stages of the UK Championship as he hammered Mike Dunn 9-1 in Sheffield on Wednesday. Wallace's win sets up his appearance in the TV stages of a ranking event for the first time in six years where he will face Shaun Murphy. Joe Swail failed to progress to Telford after losing 9-7 against Mark Davis. The Belfast player has slipped to 44th in the world rankings after a couple of disappointing seasons. Wallace, a World Championship quarter-finalist in 2001, is currently ranked 74th but his efforts in the UK Championship could see him moving up the ratings. Ken Doherty progressed to the final stages in Telford by edging out Rod Lawler 9-7.
