Patrick Wallace made the world quarter-finals in 2001 |
Northern Ireland players Patrick Wallace and Jordan Brown both bowed out of the UK Championship at the second qualifying round stage on Wednesday. Wallace was edged out 9-8 by ex-world champion John Parrott who secured the win with a 99 break in the last frame. Parrott led 7-5 and 8-7 before earning victory over the Dungannon man. Brown remained in touch at 6-4 down against Hicks but the Englishman produced breaks of 55, 63 and 93 in the final three frames to secure victory. Wallace had the first chance in the final frame against Parrott. However, the 1991 world champion came back to the table and called upon all his experience to compile a break of 77 to seal victory and a match with Dominic Dale in round three.
