O'Sullivan last won the UK Championship in 2007

Ronnie O'Sullivan has praised Telford snooker fans ahead of the UK Championship there in December.

"It's one of the biggest tournaments of the season," said O'Sullivan, who won the first of his four UK crowns as a 17-year-old in 1993.

"The crowds are always good in Telford, the fans have a lot of passion and I'm sure it will be the same this time."

Ding Junhui will be defending his UK title at the event, which has a prize fund of £625,000.

O'Sullivan added: "I've got a decent record in it having won it four times and I'd love to make it five this year."

The Telford tournament runs from 4-12 December.
