Derbyshire cueman Nigel Bond let a 3-1 lead slip to lose 5-3 to Stephen Maguire in the first round of the Grand Prix in Glasgow.

Bond lost three frames after the interval despite putting up dogged resistance against the Scot.

The world number two proved too strong for the 43-year-old though and capitalised on a mistake by Bond on a loose red to take the eighth frame.

Maguire will now face China's Ding Junhui after he beat Matthew Stevens.
