Joe Perry has said he is "match sharp" ahead of the Grand Prix in Glasgow, due to the number of tournaments he has already taken part in this season.
The 34-year-old told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I haven't really put in many hours on the practice table.
"As we're going from tournament to tournament, it all helps to get our form up to scratch."
Perry is expecting an "awkward" atmosphere in Saturday's first-round clash against friend Barry Hawkin.
Perry, from Chatteris in Cambridgeshire, was knocked out at the last-16 stage of the Shanghai Masters last week by Ronnie O'Sullivan, but he is hoping to do better in Scotland.
He said: "This is probably the third-biggest event we play in, definitely money-wise, so it's a good tournament to do well in."
Perry admitted he was hoping to avoid O'Sullivan in the early round of the Grand Prix.
"It's a shame this year that I've run in to Ronnie O'Sullivan in the first two events at an early stage," he said.
"Otherwise, I think I could have gone a long way as I'm playing the best snooker I've played for a long, long time.
"It's never nice coming up against him and it would be nice to meet him in a final instead of the last-16."
