A broken wrist has cost Graeme Dott a place at the Royal London Watches Grand Prix in his native Glasgow - and vital ranking points. The 2006 world champion suffered the injury playing football in China last week, forcing him to withdraw from the lucrative Shanghai Masters. The world number 13 fell awkwardly while playing in goal during a kick-about with his fellow players. He said: "I'm very disappointed. I went to the club but couldn't cue properly." "It's very frustrating, but there was nothing I could have done. I would have played with a cast on if I could, but it just wasn't possible. "The doctors have told me I could be out for anywhere between six and eight weeks, which is not the news I wanted to hear."  | 606: DEBATE |
Having fallen down the rankings in the past 12 months, the Larkhall player revealed his frustration at the prospect of falling down the rankings. "I'm waiting to see whether I'll get my ranking points for Shanghai. But there's not much I can do," he added. Play gets under way at 1200 BST on Saturday with world number five John Higgins taking on Anthony Hamilton, while Joe Perry and Barry Hawkins also face off at the same time. On Sunday, Stephen Hendry and Steve Davis compete in the best-of-nine matches, their opponents Dave Gilbert and Neil Robertson respectively.
