Northern Ireland has produced class acts such as Alex Higgins and Dennis Taylor, but Mark Allen could soon join that elite group.
The 21-year-old enjoyed a remarkable start to his professional tour career last season with victories over Steve Davis and John Higgins in the Northern Ireland Trophy.
He also reached the last 32 of the Malta Cup and UK Championship.
A 10-4 win over Robert Milkins in qualifying secured a first-round Crucible tie with 1997 world champion Ken Doherty.
