There was a surprise for Ronnie O'Sullivan fans on Saturday when The Rocket turned up to finish his match with Ali Carter minus his hair.
O'Sullivan was keen to have a new look in Sheffield |
What prompted him to go for the chop? "I saw a picture of myself on telly last night and I thought 'I look rough', so I shaved it off,' he said.
"I was looking like Michael Holt and it frightened me," the world number one added, rather cruelly.
"Later I saw myself and thought 'It didn't look bad'. I'm cracking up!"
Saturday afternoon, and a burly figure sidles up to Diary corner.
It's BBC snooker pundit and former world champion John Parrott. "Have you got Ceefax on that telly?" he asks.
"We are Ceefax," we tell him. "Great! Can you get me the racing results on then?" Parrott checks his runners, then dials up the Premiership table.
"That makes good reading," he says, pointing to Everton's lofty position -four points clear of rivals Liverpool. "Fourth place with a game in hand!"
John Virgo is a man who speaks his mind, as he showed in Jimmy White and Matthew Stevens' match.
Trapped in a tight snooker behind the black, Stevens sent the white towards a red only to catch the brown.
White put him back in, but Virgo was fuming at referee Alan Chamberlain for his placement of the brown.
"I'm sorry Alec, but you've got that wrong," boomed Virgo. "I can't believe he's got it that far out." Consider yourself told, Alec.
