Northern Ireland snooker player Mark Allen
Mark Allen is the World and European Amateur Champion
Mark Allen was beaten 6-3 by Glaswegian James McBain on Monday night in the final of the third Challenge Tour event at Prestatyn in North Wales.

The 19-year-old Antrim man is already assured of a place on the main professional tour next season.

He is however keen to finish in the top six of the Challenge Tour so he will start his first major season inside the top 64.

Allen can still make a top-six placing in the final tour event next month.

McBain pocketed 4,500 for his victory, while Allen's consolation was a cheque for 2,100.

Allen was crowned IBSF World Amateur Champion last December having already secured the European title six months earlier.

He has signed up with Zen Snooker Management who also have former world champion Peter Ebdon on their books.
