Sir Rodney Walker has big plans for the sport |
Sir Rodney Walker will bring in new board members if he becomes chairman of governing body the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. Walker, the chairman of commercial arm World Snooker, hopes to secure the top job at a WPBSA meeting on 16 March.
He said he had assurances from WPBSA directors that they would stand down to allow him to appoint new board members.
"Their expertise would significantly raise the levels of the credibility of the board," said Walker.
He also repeated his call to the sport's players to back his plans at next week's extraordinary general meeting or face serious consequences.
"There will always be some people who criticise change, but the sport must become bigger than any individual or group of individuals.
"Unless we are allowed to go forward, represent and promote the sport without unnecessary distractions, professional snooker will become moribund," added Walker.
