How Williams sank the red

On course for a century in frame five of his match against good friend Stephen Hendry, Mark Williams suddenly found himself stuck having slightly overrun on a black.

Even after clambering on the table, he could not get a good enough shot at the three reds clustered near the cushion.

No chance. He instead opted for the other remaining red, a long and difficult shot to the top right corner, and pretty risky given Hendry was still just about in touch.

The Scot was not to get back in however... Williams potted the red, held perfect position for the brown and cleared to the black for a magnificent 115, his second century of the session.
