Former world champion Mark Williams
Didums: Williams is unconcerned by O'Sullivan's exit

The Ronnie O'Sullivan-Mark Williams Mutual Appreciation Society reconvened on Thursday after Williams' comfortable 10-2 defeat of Stuart Pettman.

The pair, currently ranked one and two in the world, have indulged in a war of words in the media since the release of O'Sullivan's autobiography with its uncomplimentary comments about the Welshman.

When asked about O'Sullivan's early exit from the tournament, Williams suppressed a smile but could not quite conceal his true feelings.

"In some ways, if he talks rubbish for so long and gets beaten, he makes himself look stupid," said Williams.

"I have not said a word which is funny really. I'm still in the tournament and he's gone home."

You can almost hear the playground 'Ner-ner-ner-ner-ner'.

Williams may be one of Wales' top sporting heroes and a favourite to take the title, but he might not be quite so popular with the neighbours around his home in the centre of Cardiff any more.

Williams' burglar alarm was accidentally triggered overnight but with no-one there to turn it off, the siren has sounded continuously ever since.

"It's still going as far as I know," he said.

Seven-time champion Stephen Hendry added another remarkable record to his list of achievements in the game as he notched up his 100th century at The Crucible with a 115 against Drew Henry.

And with his closest rival - fellow Scot John Higgins - languishing on a mere 63, Hendry's record looks set to stand for a long time to come.

Michaela Tabb, the first referee to officiate at The Crucible, has told BBC Sport that her fellow referees really do see her as "one of the guys."

Diplomatically naming no names, Tabb told this website that one of her snooker referee colleagues has trouble maintaining his gentlemanly faade by forgetting not to swear in front of her.

While it may not have escaped the attention of certain sections of The Crucible crowd that Tabb is a member of the fairer sex, it seems certain snooker refs are blissfully ignorant.
