Hann was in superb form in Sheffield on Sunday |
Quinten Hann clinched his place in the second round as he wrapped up a solid 10-5 victory over John Parrott on Sunday. Hann started the session with a slender 5-4 advantage and a break of 80 was enough to give him a two-frame lead.
Parrott reduced the arrears with the help of a 60 break before the 14th seed took complete control.
Hann never looked back after that as he rattled off the next four frames, including a 94 in the 13th, to send the 1991 champion tumbling out.
"It was more important for me to win to stay in the top 16," said Hann.
"I'll have to improve on that but it's hard to judge as I've only started practising recently. I've got my head down for the first time in five years.

"I didn't play that well, but I'm glad to be in with a chance. I think I'll really see the benefits of my practice next season." Parrott was very disappointed with his display in Sunday morning's session.
"I killed myself out there," said the former champion.
"I got myself back to 6-5 down, made a 60 break and then I missed a red I could have potted blindfolded. I felt like somebody had hit me in the solar plexus.
"That's the last thing you need when your confidence is fragile. I am cueing well, but every now and then I make an unbelievable howler.
"Quinten didn't miss too much in the match and he seems to be playing with a better attitude these days."
