Sarah Webb still aiming for gold despite pregancy

Sarah Webb says she will not let impending motherhood distract her from her "dream" of a third Olympic gold.

Webb, who won two golds as part of the Yngling crew dubbed the 'three blondes in a boat', has confirmed she is expecting her first child in October.

"The lure of a winning a medal on home waters is also a huge motivation for me," said the 33-year-old.

"I will discuss the options and determine the path and class that give me the best chance of gold in 2012."

Webb's first Olympic success came in Athens in 2004 alongside Shirley Robertson and Sarah Ayton, before repeating the feat with Ayton and Pippa Wilson in Beijing four years later.

As the Yngling class has been removed from the Olympic programme for 2012, Ayton has already announced her intention to team up with Saskia Clark and go for gold in the 470 class.

Webb, who married Adam Gosling in February 2009, is keeping her options open for now as to in which class she will mount her bid for qualification when she returns to the water.

"It will be tough but then again Olympic victory is tough, we learn to become focused whilst racing and my husband is happy to be left holding the baby.

"Well, I haven't told him yet, but I reckon he will be happy!"
