Peter Chambers will join his brother Richard in the British team for the World Championships in November. The Chambers brothers will join their fellow Coleraine man Alan Campbell at the championships in New Zealand. Campbell will be aiming to win gold in the heavyweight single sculls while world under-23 silver medallist Peter will race in the lightweight singles. Richard Chambers and his British team-mates will battle for gold in the lightweight fours. Chambers was part of Britain's title-winning four in Munich three years ago and they will go into the championships in New Zealand among the gold medal favourites after triumphing at the Lucerne World Cup regatta in July. He will compete in the British boat in New Zealand with Paul Mattick, Chris Bartley and Rob Williams. Chambers says that a triumph in New Zealand would indicate that the British quartet are on course for London 2012. "To be a world champion is an incredible experience but it would also show that all the things we are doing are working," he added. Chambers and his British team-mates finished a disappointing fifth at the last Olympics in Beijing. The younger Chambers will be competing in the non-Olympic lightweight singles in New Zealand but his ambition is to force himself into the British four alongside his brother for the 2012 Olympics. "That is my aim and it would be unbelievable to achieve it," added Peter. "I didn't expect to be competing at a senior world championships so soon but this is what I have been working to achieve over the past few years." Peter only joined the British senior squad earlier this year and while the step-up in his training has been tough, he says that he has started to notice the benefits over the past couple of weeks.
