England's netballers stunned world and Commonwealth champions New Zealand with a fine 50-45 victory in Manchester. England led 29-20 at half-time and held off a strong fightback to seal only their second ever win over the Kiwis.
Coach Marg Caldow said: "The team has been training hard, but it's fantastic that they have now put it into practice in a match.
"It was the sign of a really classy performance that, when the pressure was on, they stepped up another gear.
Louisa Brownfield top-scored for England with 22 goals while Kiwi shooter Irene Van Dyk hit 37 from 38.
