England celebrate winning 2006 Commonwealth Games bronze |
England have named the 12-player squad that will face Australia, New Zealand and their own A side in next month's Test series. Loughborough's Ama Agbeze is recalled after recovering from serious injury.
Also called-up were Team Bath's Sasha Corbin and Sara Bayman, who featured in the 2005 World Youth Championships.
Brunel captain Sonia Mkoloma is also in the squad while her club-mates Naida Hutchinson and Chioma Ezeogu are both in the A squad.
The tournament, which runs from May 13 to 17, will see the four sides face each other in a round-robin format.
And while the senior England side will be hoping to beat their antipodean rivals, the A team are likely to see it as a chance to gain valuable experience against some of the world's top sides.
Welcoming the chance for her players to prove themselves at the highest level, A team coach Maggie Jackson said: "This series will give them the chance to demonstrate their skills in a high-pressure situation.
"We have a great squad, packed with talent."
England squad: Newton (captain), Agbeze, Atkinson, Bayman, Brownfield, Clarke, Cookey, Corbin, Dunn, Greenway, Mentor, Mkoloma.
England A squad: Chambers, Binns, Elsey, Ezeogu, Fletcher, Francis, Harten, Hutchinson, Seaton, Siddall, Wiseman, Woods.
