England began their season with an impressive 67-30 win over South Africa at the NIA in Birmingham.

Shooter Louisa Brownfield netted 26 goals from 31 shots in a clinical display of finishing for the hosts.

New England captain Amanda Newton, Geva Mentor and Sonia Mkoloma limited Sindi Gumede, at 6ft 6in, the world's tallest shooter, to limited efforts on goal.

England hope to wrap up the Test series in the second match at Manchester's MEN Arena on Thursday.

England coach Marg Caldow said: "It's always nice to start with a win, particularly at home where expectations are high.

"I was delighted with our shooters and while we have plenty of things to work on for the second Test, I'm pleased at how we played at the start of our season."
