Cornish joined the Raiders from Basingstoke Bison in 2009 |
Wightlink Raiders player-manager Jeremy Cornish is warning his side to be wary of the Bracknell Hornets, who boast two of his former stars. The Division One South champions face Hornets' skipper Danny Hughes and defender Luke Reynolds in the quarter-final of the play-off championship. Cornish, 31, told BBC Radio Solent: "Danny and Luke were really good servants to this club. "Both are the best players on their team so we'll have to be wary of them." Cornish continued: "They'll be looking to prove themselves as well, so we'll have to be careful because the play-offs are no joke." | I'll be looking for any way to motivate the players because winning the league was pretty emotional |
Raiders were beaten 6-4 by the Hornets in the semi-final of the competition last season and Cornish admitted his side want to avenge that defeat. "The team will remember the defeat last year and hopefully they will pay attention to that going into this game," added the Canadian. "I'll be looking for any way to motivate the players because winning the league was pretty emotional so I'm going to have to find a way to get them ready for Saturday. "We have to be at our best. Any team can beat any team in our league and that's been proven this year so we will have to pay close attention to detail."
