Basingstoke Bison coach Steve Moria says he wants his side to adopt an offensive mentality ahead of the Premier League play-off championship.

The play-offs are set to begin on Saturday, with Bison facing Milton Keynes in the quarter-final.

"We've got to find ways to score goals and it's something we're working on in training," Moria told BBC Berkshire.

"We've talked about it and we can't score pretty goals all the time, we have to create something from nothing."

Moria continued: "Maybe if we throw some bodies at the net and throw pucks at them we would get more deflections and rebounds.

"It's a matter of hard work and getting bodies to the net, sometimes we don't score because we play on the perimeter too much and don't get into the scoring areas enough.

"But the defensive system is an important part of ice hockey too and we know we have to be strong defensively as well."

Basingstoke, who finished fourth in the league, were defeated 7-4 on aggregate to Slough Jets in the EPL Cup final last week but Moria insists the mood in the Bison camp has not been dampened, despite the disappointing end to the season.

"We have to take it as a learning experience and progress and ensure we do the things it takes to beat Milton Keynes on Saturday," he said.

"Milton Keynes will be difficult proposition but we're feeling confident, we've beaten them the last two times we've played them.

"This is a major prize up for grabs and everyone is hungry, the guys are really looking forward to this weekend and are confident we can do it.

"We are going to get ourselves prepared and work hard to prepare smaller details and hopefully we can win the two legs."
