Manchester Phoenix's wait to clinch the English Premier League title goes on after they lost 6-4 at home to Slough Jets on Thursday.
Their first defeat since 12 February means they need three points from their final three fixtures to seal the title.
Player-coach Tony Hand told BBC Radio Manchester: "I thought we had enough chances to win the game.
"In the second period we had a bundle of chances but we never really capitalised on them."
Two goals from Ben Morgan and one each from Tony Hand and Curtis Huppe had put the Phoenix 4-3 up going into the final period.
But the Jets upped their game in the third and goals from Adam Calder, Darius Pliskauskas and a late strike from Aaron Connolly meant they travelled home with two points.
"I think they only had about three chances and scored two goals, but we're still in a strong position and have three games to go and we need three points out of six," Hand added.
"There's no point in mulling over it too much because we've got to get ready for Saturday."
