Thompson has overseen more than 1,000 games as Blaze coach

Coventry Blaze coach Paul Thompson does not believe there is enough passion running through some of his squad.

Blaze are sixth in the Elite League following weekend defeats by Braehead Clan (4-2) on Sunday and Nottingham Panthers (3-2) the previous night.

"I don't think I've ever been so frustrated with a team where you have to plead with them to show passion," he told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.

"We're a sixth-placed team and we deserve to be."

Thompson added: "We turn it off and on and there's no consistency to our game.

"As the head coach I take the full responsibility of where this team is right now."
