Belfast Giants secure double over Coventry Blaze

Brett Hemingway broke the deadlock for Belfast

The Belfast Giants further boosted their Elite League title hopes by completing a double of weekend wins over Coventry at the Odyssey Arena.

After a scoreless first period goals by Brett Hemingway and Craig Peacock put Belfast 2-0 ahead at the end of the second period on Saturday night.

Colin Shields and Josh Prudden added further goals in the third period and then Dan Carlson pulled one back.

This 4-1 victory followed a 5-2 win for the Giants in Belfast on Friday night.

On Friday, Sean Selmser put Coventry ahead early on but Belfast responded with second-period goals from Prudden and Simon Lambert.

Luke Fulghum levelled but strikes from Dan Welsh, Lambert and Colin Hemingway proved enough for the Giants.
