McKenzie signed this season from Edinburgh Capitals |
Top scorer Scott McKenzie could be back in a fortnight for Telford Tigers after being told his collar-bone injury was not a fracture as had been feared. McKenzie was taken to hospital after crashing into the boards in Tigers' home defeat by Basingstoke on Sunday. "It's good news. He's been told he's just damaged a joint and not broken anything," coach Tom Watkins told BBC Radio Shropshire. Tigers lost twice over the weekend, 6-3 at Slough then 4-3 to Basingstoke. McKenzie hit all three goals against Slough and was named man of the match. He also scored against Basingstoke before he had to leave the ice. "If the bone had been broken we wouldn't have seen Scott for six weeks at the very least," Watkins said. Reflecting on the two results, he added: "Slough and Basingstoke are both stacked with good players, but Sunday was a one-goal game and could have gone either way. I think we just ran out of legs in the end."
