Coventry are beaten by Sheffield and Cardiff in league

Coventry Blaze have dropped down to sixth place in the Elite League after their second defeat of the weekend.

Goals from Greg Chambers and Luke Fulghum were not enough to prevent a 4-2 loss at home to Sheffield Steelers on Sunday.

The previous night a patched-up Blaze took current leaders Cardiff Devils into overtime but finally lost 5-4.

Coventry are without a win in their last three fixtures, with just the one victory in nine outings.

Despite the run of results, coach Paul Thompson was still proud of his players for the commitment they displayed.

Thompson said: "I'm disappointed in the result, of course I am.

"But with what we're going through right now I'm absolutely delighted with the way the guys never quit.

"It's frustrating because we're putting guys in positions where they we're brought into this club to do those things and they're trying it to the best of their ability."
