Brad Cruikshank scored Coventry's only goal |
Coventry Blaze suffered a 5-1 home defeat to Hull Stingrays in the Challenge Cup. Blaze had won 3-1 in Yorkshire on Saturday in the league, but succumbed to four unanswered goals in the final period at the Skydome on Sunday. Brad Cruikshank gave Coventry the lead, but Jerome Tendler scored twice before Kriss Grundmanus, Andrew Coburn and Matti Uusivirta sealed the win. Blaze must now win their next two games to make the knockout stages of the Cup. Coventry coach Paul Thompson told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "They out-worked us, out-hit us, out-battled us and out-fought us. "Hull were the better team tonight, I'm not going to hide away from that. "We were fighting the puck all night, nothing was sitting for us. "We didn't show them enough respect."
