Doug Christiansen watched his Giants team beat Newcastle

The Belfast Giants won 6-4 at Newcastle Vipers in Saturday night's Elite League/Challenge Cup game.

Jamie Carroll scored the only goal of the first period for Newcastle.

Colin Shields, Mike Bayrack and Craig Peacock were on target for Belfast in the second period, with Toms Hartmanis replying for the Vipers.

Goals from Shields and Josh Prudden made it 5-2, Dale Mahovsky scored for Newcastle, then Shields for the Giants and Scott Langdon for the Vipers.
